Donetsk residents lay flowers to mark the anniversary of Aleksandr Zakharchenko's death

On the anniversary of the death of the first head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko, Donetsk residents lay flowers to the memorial installed near the site of the tragedy, the public movement Donetsk Republic reported on August 31.

A granite memorial has been installed at the entrance to the Separ cafe, where the explosion that took Aleksandr Zakharchenko’s life occurred on August 31, 2018. Donetsk residents in memory of the legendary commander lay flowers, light candles and lanterns.

Earlier, the current head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, ministers, deputies and representatives of local authorities, and fellow servicemen laid and honored the memory of Aleksandr Zakharchenko with a moment of silence.

Flowers were also laid at the bust of Zakharchenko on the Alley of Heroes in Leninsky Komsomol Park in Donetsk.

The deputies of the DPR People’s Council proposed to name one of the streets of Donetsk in honor of the legendary commander.

In Crimea in Simferopol, a street was named after the first head of the DPR.
