Permanent Representative of Russia to UN: The West creates neo-Nazi units in Ukraine

09.08.2022, New York.

The West is directly contributing to the creation of neo-Nazi units in Ukraine, Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said at a briefing at the UN Security Council on August 9.

“Ukraine is on a par with Syria, Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan. Ukraine is receiving a huge amount of Western weapons, ammunition and dual-use goods,” the diplomat said.

Nebenzya stressed that Western arms shipments to Iraq were used to arm terrorists for geopolitical purposes. In the case of Libya, militants spread across huge territories of Africa, and in Syria they were used to overthrow the legitimate government.

“And if in the Middle East, North Africa and Afghanistan the USA and its satellites fed opposition forces that quickly either turned into terrorists themselves or began to maintain close ties with terrorists, in Ukraine there is direct support and training of nationalist and neo-Nazi units,” Nebenzya said.

He noted that neo-Nazis use Ukraine as a combat laboratory. Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria were similar training grounds for Islamic radicals, and the West contributes to this in every possible way.

The Russian Defense Ministry earlier reported that as of July 8, the number of foreign mercenaries in the ranks of Ukrainian armed units was estimated at 2,741. As a result of the actions of Russian units and LPR forces, their number was reduced to 2,192. The elimination of 335 foreign militants was reliably recorded.
