05.08.2022, Moscow.

The Ukrainian army fired 152 mm shells at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the city of Energodar, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on August 5.

“On August 5, 2022 from 4:20 to 5:24 p.m. Ukrainian army carried out three artillery strikes on the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the city of Energodar. A total of 20 152-mm shells were fired,” the Ministry of Defense stated.

The Defense Ministry noted that the fire came from the village of Marganets, where the 45th artillery brigade of the Ukrainian army is located.

The ministry said that the Ukrainian army did not hit important facilities of the nuclear power plant only by chance.

“By happy coincidence, Ukrainian shells did not hit the oil and fuel oil facility and the oxygen station nearby,” the Defense Ministry said, adding that if these facilities were hit, a major fire could have broken out and an accident could have occurred at the nuclear power plant.

Also, the Ukrainian army shelled Energodar, the attack resulted in the partial cut of water supply and electricity in the city.
