UN Secretary-General António Guterres should have mentioned who really bombed Hiroshima, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy wrote on August 6 on his Twitter.

This is how he commented on Guterres’ speech at the ceremony commemorating the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. He called to always remember the tragedy, said that nuclear weapons have no place on Earth and even mentioned Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.

“Dear Secretary General, the world must also never forget that it’s the US who committed this crime being the only country who used atomic bomb against civilians. Without any military need. Would be right if you mentioned this in your statements as well!” Polanski said.

The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki took place in August 1945. As a result of dropping of American atomic bombs on Hiroshima 140 thousand people were killed, and 74 thousand people died in Nagasaki. Most of the victims were civilians.
