Ukrainian militants disrupt evacuation of civilians from Azot plant

15.02.2022, Severodonetsk.

The LPR People’s Militia reported that the Ukrainian militants opened fire at a humanitarian corridor provided for the exit of civilians from the Azot plant in Severodonetsk. The commander of the garrison of the second army corps of the LPR People’s Militia of the republic Aleksandr Nikishin said this on June 15.

“We began to observe the ceasefire regime, and organized a corridor from the gatehouse of the factory to the exit from Severodonetsk. But already at 8:10 a.m., the Ukrainian side began shelling the area near the gatehouse of the plant,” the representative of the LPR People’s Militia said.

According to the LPR People’s Militia, the enemy used a tank, mortars, and the Nona artillery system. At the same time, one person was able to leave the territory of the plant, Nikishin noted.

“Only one load man came out,” the commander said. According to Nikishin, this man did not know about the corridor and came out accidentally, having asked the militants for leave allegedly to go get things.

According to the representative of the LPR People’s Militia, there are fewer civilians in the enterprise than the Ukrainian militants claim. According to the LPR military, the militants are holding 70-75 civilians hostages in a shelter near the first gatehouse of the enterprise.
