LPR People’s Militia: Ukrainian militants at Azot plant are in catastrophic situation

14.06.2022, Lugansk.

The Ukrainian militants blocked at the Azot plant can stay alive only if they surrender, Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) said on June 14 on the Russia 24 TV channel.

He pointed to the catastrophic situation the Ukrainian troops are currently in, as they are deprived of supplies. “Those who are now at the Azot enterprise are caught between a hammer and anvil: on one hand, they are blocked by our units, on the other hand, the [Ukrainian] punitive forces are waiting for them,” Marochko said.

Therefore, he suggested that the only proper way out for the Ukrainian militants who are on the territory of the enterprise is to surrender.

“At least they will stay alive. Otherwise they will be eliminated,” Marochko said.

He denied statements by Ukrainian authorities about plans to evacuate civilians from the territory of the Azot plant, stressing that civilians are held hostage there.

“Ukraine is now trying to agree on the evacuation of these people to the territory under its control, but I would like to point out that this is absolutely untrue, since just yesterday the last bridge was blown up by Ukrainian nationalists,” the lieutenant colonel of the LPR People’s Militia said.

Marochko once again stressed that for the safe evacuation of civilians it is necessary to open “green corridors” in the direction of Svatovo, while Ukraine is bargaining under the guise of taking care of civilians’ lives.

According to the LPR ambassador to the Russian Federation Rodion Miroshnik, about 300-400 Ukrainian soldiers are blocked at Azot by Allied forces.

Earlier, the head of the Lugansk regional military administration appointed by Kiev Sergey Gaydai said that about 500 more residents, 40 of them children, remained on the territory of the Azot enterprise.
