The scale of the destruction in Mariupol is oppressive.
Combat for Mariupol lasted more than two and a half months. During the fierce battle, the city was almost completely destroyed. Residents had to live in basements, and not only because of shelling. They were forcibly driven there by the Ukrainian militants, including members of the Azov battalion (organization banned in the Russian Federation).

The first place of their visit was the school that was shelled. There, amidst the debris, it was possible to get acquainted with Ukrainian textbooks.

Many textbooks in schools are published with the assistance of the OSCE.

There is also destruction in the residential area. According to residents of Mariupol, Azov (organization banned in the Russian Federation) militants occupied the houses. And the owners lived in basements. People came out of the basements when the Chechen units of the Russian army came.
Locals say that Ukrainian tanks were firing at the houses. The houses were purposefully shelled. Substations were also hit on purpose.

There is a refugee camp nearby. It also serves as a filtration point.
