Germany will supply seven Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers to Ukraine, Minister of Defense of Germany Christine Lambrecht confirmed, Spiegel reported on May 6.
According to Lambrecht, this decision will not affect the defense potential of Bundeswehr, because the howitzers will be taken not from the operating arsenal, but from repaired howitzers.
The minister also noted that Bundeswehr will also train Ukrainian soldiers to use the howitzers. In the coming weeks, 20 soldiers will be trained, and their training will last 40 days, but it can be completed sooner.
Previously, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman General Konoshenkov said that any vehicles with foreign weapons for the Ukrainian army will be legitimate targets for the Russian army.
On February 24, Russia started a special military operation for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. As Vladimir Putin stressed, its objective is “to defend the people who have been subject to abuse, genocide by the Kiev regime over eight years.”
