Speaker of the State Duma of Russia: Russia has no desire to “save” Europe

20.04.2022, Moscow.

Russia has opportunities to redirect energy resources in case the EU countries refuse to pay in rubles, and there is no desire to “save” Europe, the speaker of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel on April 20.

Volodin said that ongoing discussions in the European Union on whether Russia should pay for gas in rubles should stop.

“Don’t think that you are the only consumers of Russian energy resources. Our country has somewhere to redirect them. Especially as partners you are nothing,” Volodin wrote.

Volodin noted that European “partners” have already proved what you are worth by imposing illegal sanctions against Russia, as well as by cases of banal gas theft.

“What is our interest? To save you? But seeing the boorish attitude to our country and people, the off-scale Russophobia, which you started, there is no such desire,” said Volodin.

As Rossa Primavera News Agency reported earlier, the Italian Government stated that it would not pay for gas in rubles if the lawyers consider it a violation of the EU sanctions.
