Romania Libera: Romania to become a hub for NATO arms transfers to Ukraine

19.04.2022, Moscow.

An amendment to legislation would allow Romania to provide military assistance to Ukraine using weapons from NATO countries, according to a story published by Romania Libera on April 19.

The Romanian authorities have decided to amend a government decree in order to legislate the possibility of transferring weapons from NATO allies to non-members of the alliance. The document is currently being prepared, the newspaper reported.

The decision was taken because of the military operation launched by Russia in Ukraine. The country’s government believes that it is necessary to do this in order to supply Ukraine with weapons from the reserves of NATO countries. It is assumed that Georgia will become the first “donor” of weapons transferred by Romania to Ukraine.
