12.04.2022, Moscow.

About 1,000 Ukrainian servicemen from the infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Forces (Navy) were taken prisoner by units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and Ministry of State Security (MSS) of the Donetsk People’s Republic in Mariupol, military correspondent Aleksandr Sladkov reported on his Telegram channel on April 12.

Sladkov reported that “1,000 Ukrainian marines are surrendering to the DPR Interior Ministry and MSS.” According to the journalist’s assessment, among those surrendering we can see “300 wounded, 90 unable to move on their own.” At the same time, the number of “healthy may be more than 800,” the military correspondent specified.

On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. The aim of the operation is to protect the population of Donbass from the genocide carried out by the Kiev regime. The Russian Armed Forces are striking only military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops. With the support of the Russian military, the LPR and DPR forces are developing their offensive.

Mariupol is almost entirely liberated by the Russian Armed Forces in cooperation with the DPR People’s Militia from the nationalists. The remnants of the Ukrainian army militants have settled in the Azovstal plant. Combat is also underway to free Russian and foreign sailors taken hostage in the port of Mariupol.
