US expert calls sanctions against Russia an act of war

16.03.2022, Moscow.

The sanctions imposed by the West against Russia over the situation in Ukraine are an international crime and an act of war. Richard Black of the Schiller Institute in New York said this in an interview with RIA Novosti on March 16.

“The sanctions that are now being imposed against Russia, switching off leading banks from the SWIFT system, are an act of war. They are unilateral, they are an international crime and an act of war. Being an act of war, they cannot be justified,” Black said.

The expert stressed that such actions are directed against citizens of Russia, to remove President Vladimir Putin, to change the regime in the country. As an example he cited the call made by the London media for the assassination of the Russian leader.

Black suggested that there may be a third world war if the “march towards the destruction of Russia” is not stopped.

On February 24, 2022, Russia began a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine, which has been under the control of the nationalist government since 2014. Western countries, in response to the denazification of Ukraine, applied a prepared package of sanctions, and a number of other unfriendly measures against Russia, in the hope of preserving the nationalist regime in Ukraine.
