More than 10.5 thousand refugees arrived in Russia in the past 24 hours.

More than 10.5 thousand citizens evacuated from the DPR, LPR and Ukraine arrived in the Rostov region in the past day, the border department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the region reported on March 16.

“Over the past day, more than 10,500 citizens crossed the border into Russia through checkpoints located in the Rostov region,” the statement reads.

After arriving in the Rostov Region, some of the refugees are then transported to other Russian regions. On March 12, the Russian government signed a decree approving the distribution of internally displaced persons from the DPR, LPR and Ukraine in Russian regions.

As of March 15, there were 5.8 thousand people, half of whom were children, living in temporary accommodation centers in the Rostov Region. The refugees are provided with food, basic necessities and medical assistance.
