Russian Defense Ministry: Aim of the attack by the Ukrainian army is to kill as many civilians as possible

14.03.2022, Moscow.

The usage of a cluster munition in the Tochka-U missile by the Ukrainian army proves that the aim of the strike has been to kill as many civilians as possible in Donetsk, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on March 14.

Konashenkov stressed that the strike was delivered against a residential area of Donetsk, where there are no firing positions of the armed forces – that is, the civilians were deliberately targeted.

He stated that this was a war crime. The supply of the missile with cluster munitions proves that the purpose of the strike was to kill as many civilians as possible.

A Russian Defense Ministry spokesman stressed that such decisions are taken at least by the Ukrainian military command after approval in Kiev.

“All this once again confirms the Nazi and anti-human essence of the ruling regime in Ukraine today,” Konashenkov said.

According to the Defense Ministry, the strike took place around 11:30 a.m. Moscow time on March 14 from the area of Krasnoarmeysk, which is under the control of the Kiev authorities. As a result of the strike, 20 civilians were killed and 28 people, including children, were seriously wounded.

It was also previously reported that the missile was shot down by air defenses. Presumably, it was aimed at the Donetsk administration area.
