16 residents killed by a cluster missile fired by the Ukrainian army at Donetsk

A Tochka-U rocket with a cluster charge was fired by the Ukrainian army at the city of Donetsk on March 14, according to the DPR representative to the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination.

Air defense units managed to shoot the missile down. The wreckage fell in the center of Donetsk near the government house.

“The dispersion of ammunition and its striking elements are reported within a radius of 500 meters from the government house. The most affected location is on Universitetskaya Street, near the government house,” the report said.

The footage published by the DPR press service shows that the missile fell near stores where it was crowded.

Exact information about the dead, wounded and destruction is being specified.

DPR representatives to the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination and emergency services are working at the site. 14 ambulance crews are providing first aid and taking the wounded to hospitals.

According to the DPR Ministry of Health, 18 people were delivered to hospitals in the city at 12:22 a.m.. At 12:42 a.m., another five people, including one child, were taken to hospitals.

“According to current information as of 12:48 a.m., 16 dead persons were reported,” the DPR Ministry of Health informed on its Telegram channel.

According to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin, the target of the Tochka-U missile was the administrative center of Donetsk. Providing the missile with cluster charges leads to scattering charges over a large area and killing a large number of civilians.

Under the 2008 Cluster Munitions Convention, more than 100 countries have pledged never to use these weapons.
