If consumption and prosperity are the goals of Man in the world, then in a very short time the vast majority of people on the planet will be needless, stated philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on the Right to Know! program on the TVC channel on March 12.
Kurginyan said that he remembers very well a conversation he had in the late 1980s with an academician from Mikhail Gorbachev’s entourage. The academician said, “What are you talking about such trivial things: this ideology, another ideology. We are now going through a transitional period that is roughly analogous to the one that existed between the late Paleolithic and Neolithic… We are entering such a global bottleneck. Revolutions are no big deal. There’s an evolutionary change going on, and no one knows if the human race will survive“.
According to the political scientist, this approach is fair. Kurginyan noted that the word “turbulence”, which many people like to say, hides a very serious phenomenon. He explained what changes may happen to humanity, for example, in a tiny period of 30-40 years by historical standards.
“Everybody talks about the fact that sooner or later an abundance of different kinds [of goods] will come. And that it will be produced by, let’s say, half a billion people, three hundred million – it doesn’t matter. What will the rest do? It depends on how the world is organized and what its goals are. If its goals are prosperity and everything else, then they are not needed. If the goal is ascending to God or awakening to higher creative abilities, then these people are needed,” the philosopher explained.
He is convinced that the fate of humanity depends on what goals it sets for itself. “Therefore, the question of what will be the goals, what will be this very superideology – it is not so abstract at all, it is quite man-eating, if I can put it that way,” Kurginyan summarized.
