Experiments with bat coronavirus were conducted in bio-laboratories in Ukraine established and funded by the USA, Major General Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, told reporters on March 10.

Konashenkov stressed that, according to available documents, US laboratories in Ukraine “conducted experiments with bat coronavirus samples.”

In addition, projects to use wild birds to transfer pathogens from Ukrainian territory to Russia and other neighboring states were of particular interest to the United States.

As the representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense noted, the US experts studied diseases of birds, bats and reptiles, and also a possibility of transfer of African swine fever and anthrax by these animals.

The purpose of the Pentagon’s project for bio-laboratories in Ukraine, Konashenkov said, “was to create a mechanism for the hidden spread of deadly pathogens.”

Earlier, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland acknowledged the presence of US bio-laboratories in Ukraine and said Kiev was working with Washington to prevent Russia from taking them under control.
