Ukrainian militants block the exit of civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha, a representative of the DPR People’s Militia said on March 8.
“Militants continue to block the exit of civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha,” the report reads. The neo-Nazis are staging provocations and due to their fault civilians cannot leave the cities.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said that as of 10 a.m. Moscow time, Russian troops are imposing a regime of silence to allow residents of some Ukrainian cities to leave.
Ukraine confirmed at the talks that routes for the evacuation of civilians had been agreed with Russia, but no mass evacuation had ever taken place. The Russian Defense Ministry said that neo-Nazis were preventing civilians from leaving populated areas in order to use them as human shields.
