Briefing of the Russian Defense Ministry

The Russian Defense Ministry provided a summary of the results of the past 24 hours, as well as plans for today, during a briefing on March 8. The materials were provided by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The Defense Ministry reports that the forces of the Lugansk People’s Republic have advanced 9 kilometers and taken control of the villages of Borsonino, Kremennaya, Peschannoye, Varvarovka, Pshenichnoye, Yepifanovka, Novodruzhesk, and Belogorovka.

Over the past 24 hours, the forces of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic established control over the Osoviakhim quarter in Mariupol.

The Defense Ministry specified that during March 7, Russian Air Force bombing and attack aviation strikes destroyed 158 military facilities on Ukrainian territory.

It is also reported that high-precision long-range weapons were used to damage the Ukrainian Air Force’s Ozernoye airfield near Zhytomyr.

Russian Air Force fighter aviation shot down two MiG-29s and one Su-27 of the Ukrainian Air Force in the air.

Also yesterday, two divisions of S-300 air defense missile system, three Buk M-1 self-propelled firing units, four control points, two radar stations, nine ammunition depots of the Ukrainian army were eliminated and strikes were carried out against 11 areas of weapons and military equipment concentration.

Since the beginning of the operation, 2,482 Ukrainian military infrastructure facilities, including 87 Ukrainian army’s command posts and communication centers, 124 anti-aircraft missile systems, and 79 radar stations were destroyed.

Also destroyed 866 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 91 multiple rocket launchers, 317 artillery pieces and mortars, 634 vehicles, and 81 UAVs.

The Ministry recalls that today, March 8, a “regime of silence” has been introduced since 10 a.m. Civilians were provided with humanitarian corridors from Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov, and Mariupol.

Earlier, it was reported that people arriving from these cities through humanitarian corridors could leave the assembly points for the territory of Ukraine by agreement with the Ukrainian side.
