Advanced units of the DPR join the Russian Armed Forces on the Azov Sea coast

The Russian Armed Forces, which were holding the Azov Sea coast under control, have joined advanced units of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press conference on March 1.

He also said that Russian troops “completely blocked” the access of Ukrainian Armed Forces units to the Sea of Azov.

On February 24, 2022, the DPR and Lugansk People’s Republic appealed to Russia for help, after which the Russian Federation decided to launch a military operation in Ukraine. On February 21, Russia recognized the DPR and LPR and signed treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with them.

On February 28, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations met at the Belarusian border for talks, but came to nothing and there will be another meeting.
