Russian Defense Ministry accuses Ukrainian army of using prohibited phosphorous ammunition

27.02.2022, Moscow.

The Ukrainian military has used phosphorous ammunition prohibited under international conventions, said Spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Igor Konashenkov at a briefing on February 27.

“They use Soviet-made 122-mm shells for D-30 howitzers and rockets for Grad BM-21 systems,” Konashenkov said.

He reminded that this kind of munitions is prohibited by the UN Inhuman Weapons Convention of 1980. According to Konashenkov, the Ukrainian military used weapons prohibited by the UN convention because it “despaired” of impeding the advance of the Russian troops.

Previously, Konashenkov said that Ukrainian neo-Nazi armed groups used “bander-mobiles” as terrorists in Syria do.

The DPR leader Denis Pushilin in the evening of February 26 said that in Mariupol, neo-Nazis organized firing positions right in people’s apartments in multi-storeyed buildings.
