Russian Foreign Ministry: World War III has already begun in cyberspace

16.12.2021, Moscow.

Russia is trying to diplomatically smooth over the consequences of World War III in cyberspace, said Andrei Krutskikh, special envoy of the Russian president on international cooperation on information security and director of the Foreign Ministry Department, RIA Novosti reported on December 16.

According to him, the media, talking about World War III going on now, are right. “The war is underway, and it is very intense,” he said at the plenary session of the 9th All-Russian Congress of Political Scientists “Russia and the Political Order in a Changing World: Values, Institutions, and Prospects,” held at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

It’s just that now all military actions are taking place in cyberspace, Krutskikh emphasized. They may be masked, but the war is already going on “on a full scale,” he added.

The special envoy of the Russian president explains that it is now important to “calculate the damage,” analyze who will lose in this war, and predict “the configuration of the world as a result of this war.”

Krutskikh noted that Russia is negotiating with the USA at the UN and trying to negotiate with it, “in order to somehow smooth over the possible consequences.” However, “unfortunately, the negotiations are very difficult,” he specified.
