Was Belarus included in the “plan of attack on Ukraine” because of the recognition of Crimea?

Belarus has been accused of complicity in Russia’s plans to attack Ukraine after Lukashenko’s words about the recognition of Crimea, expert of the Association of Military Political Scientists and head of the political science and sociology department at Plekhanov Russian Economics University Andrey Koshkin said in a commentary for Rossa Primavera News Agency on December 5.

“This map has existed for a long time,” Koshkin commented on the schematical plan published in the German newspaper Bild, which allegedly shows Russia’s planned military operation in Ukraine.

According to him, it “first had only two directions [of the attack]: these are directly from the East and Southeast, from Crimea and from Russian borders.”

The expert added, “When Lukashenko said that Crimea is a part of Russia, it caused a storm of indignation in Ukraine and they combined already Lukashenko and Putin and called it a double hybrid threat.”

Koshkin believes that the German publication indicates that the situation is further exacerbated, and the idea that “Russia is some kind of monster” being inculcated in the mass consciousness in the West.

On December 4, the German publication Bild, citing a source in NATO, published plans of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, which were allegedly prepared for Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to these plans, at the first stage it is planned to take the south of Ukraine, at the second stage – eastern Ukraine, and at the third – Kiev, as well as the northern and northwestern parts of the country. According to another version, the attack will take place from three sides at once. The publication claims that the military operation should take place as early as this winter. Russia described the publication as “propaganda” and a “fake”.
