Russian Foreign Ministry: Ukraine pulls up half of the Ukrainian army’s personnel to the contact line in Donbass

01.12.2021, Moscow.

The number of Ukrainian armed forces in the conflict zone with Donbas was increased to 125,000 people, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on December 1.

“On the contact line in Donbass, Ukraine is building up its group of forces by pulling up heavy equipment and personnel. According to some reports, the number of Ukrainian troops in the conflict zone has already reached 125,000 people, which, if anyone does not know, is half of the entire Ukrainian army,” said a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Zakharova said that Moscow was seriously concerned about Kiev’s actual refusal to settle the issue peacefully. The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stressed that Ukraine no longer hides its unwillingness to act in accordance with the Minsk agreements.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law envisioning the admission of foreign units into the country’s territory in 2022. Zakharova recalled that this directly contradicts the Minsk agreements, in which Clause 10 provides for the withdrawal of all foreign armed formations from the territory of Ukraine.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the Western media do not cover the fact that the Ukrainian side is destroying residential buildings and civilian infrastructure in Donbass. Zakharova stressed that the matter concerns not individual people, but the population of the region, which has been suffering for years from the absolute arbitrariness of the Kiev regime, is on the brink of disaster, and around which Ukraine is tightening its military circle.
