The USA promotes confrontational schemes of international associations in Asia-Pacific, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said on November 30 speaking to the participants of the Dialogue for the Future 2021 program, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Lavrov, previously, positive and constructive trends used to dominate there as universal organizations and forums formed around the Association of South-East Asian Nations. They made at least minor effort towards consensus and compromises, Lavrov explained.
Today, the USA promotes “openly confrontational schemes” of unions and associations in Asia-Pacific for certain countries to confine other ones, the foreign minister stressed. The USA calls them “Indian-Pacific strategies,” he added.
Lavrov explained that the USA has already built “a group of four with clear anti-Chinese essence.” “Now, a military technological alliance, AUKUS [a trilateral defense alliance of Australia, the UK, and the USA ― Rossa Primavera News Agency], is being created,” the minister added.
