Kiev is showing Western countries that Ukrainians are anti-Russian in order to draw another tranche of money from Washington, political scientist and expert on Central and Eastern Europe Grigory Mironov said to Rossa Primavera News Agency on November 25.
“At the moment, it is very important for Ukraine to create an image of an external enemy for its population in order to distract it from internal economic and political problems,” Mironov said.
According to him, Kiev needs to show Western countries that Ukrainians are still anti-Russian. “Without confronting Russia, at least in words, they cannot draw another tranche of money from Washington or European states,” the political scientist said.
“Therefore, the Kiev authorities need to constantly inflate the military hysteria. But, of course, it will not go beyond big words,” Mironov explained.
On November 25, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Kiev is escalating the situation in the conflict zone in Donbass, Ukrainian security forces are already conducting offensives in some areas.
