Belarusian Senator: The West will respond to the signing of the military doctrine of Russia and Belarus

05.11.2021, Minsk.

The West will not be delighted with the new military doctrine of Belarus and Russia, said a member of the commission for international affairs and national security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Valery Gaidukevich, as Sputnik Belarus informed on November 5.

“Of course, our doctrine will be carefully read in the West, and they will speak out against the Union Doctrine,” Gaidukevich said. He is sure that there will be those who will speak out against the military doctrine of the Union State, as it has already happened before, it is a normal process.

According to him, there are new points of tension in the world. He believes that there will be a reaction to the signing of the new doctrine on the Polish side, because it is a member of NATO. Especially since the USA will deploy its missiles closer to the border of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, i.e. in Poland.

The senator noted that the West should know that the doctrine is solely defensive in nature, the Union State needs to defend its territory, and it does not need any other. This doctrine was created on the basis of the military doctrines of Russia and Belarus, which do not pose a threat to other states.

“Neither Belarus nor Russia has any plans to threaten anyone. We are preparing to defend our country, our territory, our independence if someone infriges on them,” Gaidukevich stressed. But if there are any threats from the outside, it’s a different story.

Gaidukevich said that the doctrine contains issues related to different types of wars, including local and hybrid ones. Taking into account the current situation, Belarus already needs to revise its military doctrine and make adjustments to it.
