Expert assesses chances of pan-Turkic project of “sick” Erdoğan

The pan-Turkic project of the current Turkish authorities may turn out to be short-lived due to the change of positions of the local elites and the US, the editor-in-chief of REGNUM news agency, political analyst Yuri Baranchik wrote on October 4 on his Telegram channel.

Commenting on a recent publication in the authoritative US magazine Foreign Policy, which pointed to the allegedly poor state of health of current Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Baranchik noted that by doing so, the US is sending a warning to an ally.

“So, the time frame of Erdogan’s pan-Turkic project is very short-lived. Especially since there is no demand for this project in Turkey’s elite,” the expert noted.

“They are rather concerned about preserving the territorial integrity of the country. And it’s not just about the Kurds, but about the division of Turkey into ‘European’ and ‘Asian’,” he explained.

According to the analyst, Turkey is an object of the game of the United Kingdom and Israel, “The more Erdogan ventures, the more it will backfire on Turkey, which as a regional player has begun to create more problems than it solves.”
