People in Russia trust personal contacts on the issue of vaccination, not the state or any organizations, said philosopher, political scientist, leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in a new issue of the Meaning of the Game broadcast on August 31.
“One thing runs the show – it is a multifaceted mistrust and the diffuse nature of this mistrust”, the political scientist characterized the attitude of citizens to the pressure of authorities on the issue of vaccination.
The leader of Essence of Time added, “Mistrust to everything is in the air. People do not trust the authorities, they do not trust the systemic opposition, not do they trust smaller informal groups, even if you like their positions. They have those positions, but who knows…”.
“And they trust a local emergency doctor who tells his loved ones that they should not get vaccinated. And his loved ones tell that their neighbors”, he explained.
“They trust any scream of pain in the Internet… (…) They trust and take heed when someone screams personally and as an individual. They believe something very close to them, but they do not believe everything else. (…) And the more administrative pressure there is, the more mistrust there will be”, said the political scientist.
Kurginyan considers it indicative of the political situation in Russia and that mistrust that, despite the enormous pressure of the vaccination campaing, a minority of the population has been vaccinated: according to various estimates, up to 26.5 %.
The philosopher is convinced that if the Russian authorities lose trust as a result of pension reform and vaccination, anything can bring down the state.
