Expert: Green economy could help the USA write off money

09.08.2021, Moscow.

Western economic elites need to find applications for the funds accumulated in the so-called “bubbles,” and talk of a “green” economy is aimed at this, Professor of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) Andrey Bezrukov said on August 9 on the air of Vesti FM.

Bezrukov stressed that there is a clear focus of Western economic elites on the “green” economy, on restructuring the entire infrastructure on the basis of new technologies.

“What is the essence of the package that is being adopted in the United States? There is a gigantic amount of printed money in the market. The economy doesn’t work, it doesn’t grow in a normal way. It only grows when huge amounts of money are thrown in it. Some money creates jobs, new technology, but mostly it all goes into bubbles. The Western economic elites must make use of this money at any cost, otherwise these bubbles will explode,” the professor of the MGIMO University said.

It is noteworthy that in the USA, the first Special Presidential Envoy for Climate in Biden’s administration is former Secretary of State John Kerry. He said in March that sovereign states are not the best instrument to solve serious problems, in particular, the problem of climate change.

He said that solutions to climate issues on a global scale should come from private companies. Kerry emphasized that this would be a transition period to a green economy.

The former secretary of state added that upgrading infrastructure and power grids “is critical to our remaining a powerful force, to jump-starting our economy post-COVID.”

Kerry emphasized the need to “reassert American leadership” on climate issues.
