Polish Foreign Ministry proposes alternative to “Russian world” to Ukraine

29.07.2021, Warsaw.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Marcin Przydacz discussed the common European heritage of Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine and an alternative to the “Russian world” on July 27 on the air of a Polish Radio program.

Arguing with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s article on the historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians, the Polish politician questioned this unity, alleging that the answer to this question is not historically unambiguous.

“History cannot be misrepresented, <…> they are doomed to defeat,” the diplomat said speaking about Russia’s attempts to turn the resolution of this historical issue to its advantage.

Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine previously said that they could promote their “Lublin Triangle” to counter the “Russian world” for their countries to oppose “Russian aggression.”

In July 2021, the foreign ministers of the three countries signed a number of joint documents, including a declaration on common historical heritage and common values, and plans to “counter Russian disinformation.”
