Political analyst: Before the elections, the Czech Republic will play the Russophobic card more than once

Russia is demonized in the Czech Republic in the course of internal political conflicts, political analyst Vadim Trukhachev said to Rossa Primavera News Agency on June 28.

Commenting on yet another accusation of pro-Russian views against President Miloš Zeman made by the president of the Czech Senate Miloš Vystrčil, the political analyst noted that “there is nothing new in the disputes about Russia inside the Czech leadership.” The same accusations were made back in April, when Zeman questioned the involvement of Russian security services in the explosions which occurred in Vrbětice in 2014.

“And even then Vystrčil, who belongs to the Russophobic wing of the Czech elite, said that the very fact of doubting the Russian trace is a betrayal, and even tried to raise the question of the resignation of the president of the state,” Trukhachev recalled.

According to the expert, elections in the Czech Republic will be held in October, and from time to time this story will come back, these disagreements will come to the surface again. “Russia has long been one of the topics in the internal Czech conflicts. It’s just that they have already reached such a level that we had to drew certain conclusion,” the political scientist added.

Trukhachev noted that the words of the president of the Senate once again give reason for the Russian leadership to make sure that at the moment it is impossible to negotiate with the Czech Republic and that its exclusion from the list of unfriendly countries is out of the question. “Moreover, now the Czech Republic is the last country in the world with which Russia will talk about anything at all. And Prague will probably be the last city in the world with which Russia will resume air communication,” the expert believes.
