The United States is passing military satellites off as communication and meteorological satellites, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Andrey Belousov said. TASS reported this on June 3.
“The US continues to register all its satellites exclusively as communication or meteorological satellites. Thus, their real functions are hidden,” Belousov said.
He stressed that the Americans thereby reduce safety in Earth orbits.
“Nowadays, there have been numerous launches of US satellites which looks more and more like a creeping expansion in space in order to secure as much of the near-Earth space as possible for themselves,” Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations said.
Belousov concluded his remarks by noting that Boeing has developed the X-37B reusable spacecraft at the request of the US Defense Department.
“One can assume its widest application, including combat operations and striking space objects,” Belousov concluded.
