Ukrainian military violates the ceasefire in Donbass ten times on Palm Sunday

The Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire on the front line in Donbass ten times over the day, the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCCC) informed on 26 April.

A representative of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) informed that the Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire five times between 5.47 a.m. and 10.50 p.m. (Moscow time zone) on April 25. The Ukrainian army opened fire on the villages of Kalinovka, Zolotoye-5, Molodezhnoye, and Kalinovo.

The JCCCC observers informed that the Ukrainian military fired a total of 58 rounds of different ammunition including 10 120mm mortar shells.

A representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) informed that the Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire on the front line five times on April 25. The Ukrainian army units opened fire on the villages of Zheleznaya Balka, southern Zaytsevo, Veseloye, Sakhanka, and Gagarin Mine in Gorlovka.

Observers on the front line noted that the Ukrainian military fired using 120 mm and 82mm mortars, SPG-9 recoilless anti-tank gun, RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade launcherю Small arms were also used. A total of 26 rounds of various ammunition were fired in the direction of the DPR.

The Ukrainian side in the JCCCC responded to all appeals submitted using the coordination procedure that it does not recognize the facts of ceasefire violation or ignored appeals. “We do not confirm shelling, we observe the ceasefire,” the DPR representative cited a usual response of the Ukrainian side.

During April 24, the Ukrainian military opened fire on the DPR territory six times. On the territory of the LPR, observers confirmed that the ceasefire was observed.

On April 25, Orthodox Christians in Ukraine and the republics celebrated Palm Sunday, one of the most revered holidays dedicated to the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
