Russian senator on the NATO Secretary General’s statement: The Alliance embarks on a dangerous path

26.03.2021, Moscow.

NATO’s readiness to respond to acts of aggression, which were allegedly carried out using non-military means, is fraught with disastrous consequences, Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy Aleksey Pushkov wrote on March 26 on his Telegram channel.

Earlier NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance intends to use force even in cases when a state member becomes a victim of aggression carried out using non-military means.

Senator Pushkov stressed that the concept of “aggression carried out using non-military means” does not exist in international law.

“This is why NATO embarks on an extremely dangerous path of erasing differences between military and non-military means of policy,” Pushkov added.

According to the Russian senator, the Alliance needs to think about the threat of immediate escalation if NATO acts in this way. The diplomat also proposed to NATO to consider the other party’s possible actions in this case.
