The situation on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on the contact line sharply deteriorated, the press service of the DPR People’s Militia informed on March 17.
It is noted that the situation on the line of contact deteriorated significantly over the past day.
“The Ukrainian militants were most active on the Mariupol direction,” a representative of the DPR People’s Militia specified.
He also stressed that the shelling of the DPR intensified “after the commission of the Ukrainian Naval Forces Command consisting of 15 members arrived to the positions of the brigade.”
On March 16, the statement on the results of a meeting of the subgroups in the Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbas informed about the escalation along the entire line of contact.
Between 2 and 16 March, the Ukrainian side violated the ceasefire 54 times. The Ukrainian armed forces are frequently using mortars of various calibres. The majority of all violations were reported on the Mariupol, Donetsk, and Gorlovka directions.
