Kurginyan: Russia must try to be friends with the United States if the US doesn’t want that

05.02.2021, Donetsk.

Dialogue between Russia and the United States is vital, but it is important what kind of relations the United States wants to build with Russia, political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on January 28 during The Topic program on the Donetsk Union TV channel.

“There has never been an era when the two nuclear superpowers have not been in dialogue with each other. This dialogue is absolutely necessary, it cannot be broken. There is no possibility of preserving life on Earth if this dialogue is broken,” Kurginyan commented on a telephone conversation between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden.

There is nothing surprising in the conversation between the presidents of the two countries, but the question “is what kind of relations the US wants to build with Russia,” the political analyst continued. He noted that post-Soviet Russia has long talked about its readiness “for any kind of peacefulness, for any kind of integration into the West.”

“The West has rejected everything. It broke all the agreements regarding the NATO’s non-expansion. It launched new military actions, obviously against Russia. It demonized Russia. It rejected all its attempts to join Europe, to become part of the West. Theseareitsunilateralactions,” Kurginyan recalled.

Kurginan expressed confidence that the dialogue will be maintained, but stressed that US-Russian relations will be deteriorating under the guise of external respectability. The worst deterioration will happen after the US Democratic Party resolves its domestic problems and switches to its “favorite” foreign policy.
