Kurginyan: Russia will not elect an “emissary of the West and an inveterate thief”

30.01.2021, Moscow.

Protest leaders cynically pursue non-transparent goals through violence at unauthorized rallies because they cannot win in an open political process, leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said during the broadcast of the Time will tell program on the Channel One Russia on January 29.

“The people will not support these leaders in elections. Because everyone knows who they are. And because they [protest leaders] have chosen an inveterate petty thief whom he used to be before the beginning of his whole political career as an exposer of corruption,” the political scientist shared his opinion about the protest organizers and their leader Alexei Navalny.

Kurginyan is convinced that the opposition leaders headed by Navalny will never win in a fair political struggle. Russia will not vote for an “emissary of the West and an inveterate thief.”

Therefore, the leaders of the protests have wagered on street violence. “All they can have is blood. And through it they somehow want to get somewhere,” the political analyst warned.

Kurginyan also said that, for him, those who fight in the streets are better than those who use bloodshed in the streets to their advantage. “The most cynical thing that can happen is to capitalize on this mess,” he said.

Kurginyan reminded the television audience of the provocations and staged false-flag incidents that repeatedly occurred during past protests. In the late 1980s, such a provocation was organized in Czechoslovakia, said the expert. Then state security officer Ludvík Zifčák played the role of student Martin Šmíd, allegedly murdered by police officers, which triggered the Velvet Revolution in the country.

Society and the state should be prepared for such scenarios, says Kurginyan.
