Russian Air Force planes hit "black caliphate" cells in Syria

10.01.2021, Damascus.

Russian Air Force has carried out airstrikes on the positions of ISIS (organization banned in Russia) militants in the Rasafa desert in Syria, a Rossa Primavera News Agency source in Syria said on January 10.

“Russian warplanes carried out airstrikes against the facilities of ISIL (organization banned in Russia) terrorists in the Rasafa Desert southwest of Raqqa,” the source reported. The results of the strikes are not reported.

It should be noted that the main part of ISIL was eliminated in Syria at the end of 2017. Only scattered bandit cells remained and went underground.

At the end of 2020, “sleeping” ISIL (organization banned in Russia) cells committed several major terrorist attacks in Syria, attacking convoys of buses. Almost 50 people were killed in the attacks.
