Russia’s military operation against the Islamic State international terrorist organization (organization banned in Russia) in Syria eradicated the organization, the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said, the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper reported on September 30.
According to the minister, a total of 130 thousand terrorists were destroyed after the beginning of the Russian military operation in Syria. He stressed that entire global terrorist underground, including terrorists’ financial and resource structures, suffered a serious damage due to the operations of the Russian armed forces.
“Further expansion of the operations of terrorist groups, especially into adjacent territories, has been securely blocked,” Shoigu said.
Previously, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the Syrian government and the opposition ended their armed confrontation. According to Lavrov, Damascus does not consider the military resolution of the conflict in the republic as the only option.
