Expert: Turkey is not afraid to challenge the system of international relations

30.09.2020, Moscow.

Ankara is not afraid to challenge the system of international relations because it has its own vision of the future, said the Turkologist and director of the Center for Oriental Studies, International Relations and Public Diplomacy Vladimir Avatkov on September 30 on the air of the Vesti FM broadcast.

“Everything that happens in the South Caucasus, everything that happens in the post-Soviet space is directed against us. The essence is to drag the post-Soviet space away from us by fair means or foul,” Avatkov said. According to the Turkologist, despite all the problems of the USA and the West as a whole, these are the actors who launched the process.

“Turkey is not afraid to challenge the system of international relations. It has its own vision of the future. It has a desire for revenge, it has a feeling that it can and should manage processes in the post-Soviet space, on the territory of the former Ottoman Empire,” Avatkov said.

On September 27, full-scale hostilities began on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, which has already resulted in dozens of deaths on both sides. Azerbaijani forces carried out an intensive artillery strike against settlements in Karabakh, including its capital Stepanakert.

Turkey literally immediately took Azerbaijan’s side, declaring its full support to Baku’s actions. At the same time, Ankara assured that it would provide any assistance that would be requested in Baku.

It should be noted that the Turks and Azerbaijanis are descendants of the Oghuz. Proponents of the Pan-Turkic project claim that the formation of a great Turkic state, Turan, should begin with the unification of Turkey and Azerbaijan into one state.
