The mission of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of ceasefire is ready to establish a ceasefire monitoring mechanism, the head of the DPR mission to the JCCC Ruslan Yakubov said on July 24.

Yakubov said, “The DPR mission to the JCCC, in the framework of the negotiation process, expresses readiness to this kind of cooperation and to establishing a comprehensive and effective mechanism to manage and prevent facts of ceasefire violations. We expect similar steps from the Ukrainian side of the JCCC according to the signed additional measures.”

He added that the additional measures to monitor the ceasefire regime, with certain political will, will help not only to prevent shelling, but also to make real steps towards peace based on dialogue and cooperation between the sides to the conflict.

The additional measures to ensure ceasefire include a total ban on opening fire, deploying weapons in towns and villages or near them, and any offensive or reconnaissance and subversive operations. They also implement disciplinary responsibility for ceasefire violations.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian armed groups reported incidents of shelling from the DPR side on July 27 in the first hour after the ceasefire became effective. According to the DPR, this was Kiev’s provocation.
