Russia-Ukraine gas transit talks in Vienna continue third day

The representatives of Russia and Ukraine continue their talks on the provisions of the gas transit agreement in Vienna, REGNUM news agency reported on December 27.

The representative of the Gazprom company told journalists that the talks that started on Thursday continued. He stressed that on Friday, December 27, the talks were taking place till late in the night.

The executive director of the Naftogas Ukrainian company Yuri Vitrenko said that a meeting would take place on December 26, at which, the hoped, the provisions of the agreement would be finally approved before December 27.

The Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Novak expected that the agreement could be reached during the weekend.

Russia and Ukraine signed the protocol of a five-year agreement on Russian gas transit through the Ukrainian territory, a Gazprom official said on December 20.

The Vice-Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Kozak said at the cabinet meeting on October 23 that Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement to discuss direct supplies of gas to Ukraine after the New Year.
