Date of separation of forces between LPR and Ukraine set

01.11.2019, Donetsk.

The separation of forces between the Ukrainian army and the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic will start on November 4, Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky said on October 31 at a press conference after the meeting of the Ukraine NATO commission, the DPR press service reports.

However, the Ukrainian president stipulated a condition that seven days of silence must pass before the separation of forces begins, i. e. neither of the sides must open fire. Zelensky also noted that the separation near Petrovskoye is the continuation of his peace initiative, because the separation in the town of Zolotoye has already started.

The negotiations on the resolution of the conflict ended with the so-called Steinmeier formula signed by the new president of Ukraine on October 1, 2019. The signing of this agreement met strong negative criticism among the pro-Bandera minority of Ukrainian society. The first attempts to separate forces in three locations were undermined by nationalists who arrived at the scene.
