Putin grants Russian citizenship to Novatek Deputy Chairamn Mark Gyetvay

Russian citizenship is granted to Mark Gyetvay, deputy CEO of Novatek. Announcement that President Vladimir Putin signed the corresponding decree on July 22 was posted on the official portal for legal information in Russia.

The presidential decree instructs: according to article 89, section “a” of the Constitution of the Russian Federation “to grant Russian citizenship to Gyetvay Mark Anthony, born July 19, 1957, in the US.

Novatek is a large Russian gas company. Mark Gyetvay, an American citizen, has held the deputy chairman position in the company since 2010.

On July 22, Novatek sold 30% of Arctic LNG-2 to Japanese and Chinese. 10% went to the Japanese consortium Mitsui & Co and Japan  Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), two companies from Hong Kong — a subsidiary of CNPC and a subsidiary of CNOOC Ltd. — received 10% each.
