Kurginyan: Desperate elections in overheated Ukraine are just the beginning, the most important thing will happen next year

22.07.2019, Moscow.

The elections in Ukraine demonstrate that Ukrainian society is overheated, said political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel on July 21.

“In practice, the Ukrainian society is severely overheated. This sensationalist election scenario exists. These elections are marked by desperation, indecision and something else,” stressed the expert.

According to Sergey Kurginyan, the party of President Vladimir Zelensky “Sluga naroda” (translates as “the servant of people”)  will come in first, given the nature of these elections. However, the expert believes that the party will fulfil none of its election promises, which is why this excitement will last a year at most.

“Medvedchuk obtained few votes, so there is a need for a new leader who will consolidate the pro-Russian wing, who will advocate for Russia even more explicitly, determinedly, and actively. Later, the country will face a conflict between pro-Russian and anti-Russian forces, this fight will determine the future of Ukraine,” said Kurginyan.

On July 21, Ukraine held early parliamentary elections. According to preliminary results,  the party “Sluga Naroda” (translates as “the servant of people”) is in the lead.
