Ukrainian delegation stops working at PACE

28.06.2019, Kiev.

Ukrainian delegation stopped its work at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Georgy Logvinsky, a member of the Ukrainian delegation, informed journalists on June 27th.

He clarified that country’s representatives will not take part in the PACE plenary sessions and committees, and that only some members of the Ukrainian delegation will remain in Strasbourg for contacts with colleagues from other countries.

Logvinsky also said that the return of the Ukrainian delegation is possible only after consultations with the Verkhovnaya Rada.

Earlier, a majority of votes at a PACE session was made to confirm the Russian delegation’s full powers. In response to this decision, the Ukrainian delegation left the meeting.

Russia will also have to pay the debt on dues for participation in PACE, the payment of which Russia has suspended since 2017 in response to the termination of the delegation’s powers.

According to Rossa Primavera News Agency, Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas had earlier condemned the restoration of Russia’s powers at PACE.
