The USA should be ready to deploy troops to Venezuela the way it did to Grenada in 1983, said Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, in an article for the Wall Street Journal.
The Senator believes that US President Donald Trump did the right thing having recognized the impostor Juan Guaidó as Venezuelan leader. Graham stresses that the White House has done a great job creating a regional and global coalition against the legitimate President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro.
Graham says that since Cuba supports Maduro, we can compare it with the illegitimate US invasion of Grenada, an island nation which Cuba had supported as well.
“The U.S. must be willing to intervene in Venezuela the way we did in Grenada. Mr. Trump should tell Cuba to withdraw all security forces from Venezuela immediately,” the Senator thinks.
In October, 1983, the US Armed Forces invaded the island of Grenada in the Caribbean Sea under the pretext of allegedly protecting the US citizens after the Revolutionary Military Council supported by Cuba came to power.
