The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called the US government decision to deploy additional troops to the Middle East extremely dangerous, Reuters reports on May 25.
“Increased U.S. presence in our region is extremely dangerous and it threatens international peace and security,” noted the diplomat, pointing out that this issue “should be addressed”.
On May 24, the US announced the deployment of an additional 1500 troops to the Middle East. Washington justified its decision as the need to strengthen security against Iran, which is accused of attacking oil tankers belonging to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
