Putin lays flowers to Admiral Kornilov’s monument at the Malakhov Kurgan memorial complex

Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the monument to Admiral Kornilov in the city of Sevastopol, a Rossa Primavera News Agency correspondent reports on April 18.

The flower-laying ceremony was held as part of the presidential visit to the Malakhov Kurgan memorial complex, where a monument to the admiral is located.

Vice Admiral Vladimir Alekseevich Kornilov was a Russian naval officer. He led the Black Sea Fleet during the Crimean War. Kornilov was killed defending the city from the invaders on the Malakhov Kurgan during the First Bombardment of Sevastopol by the British and French forces October 5, 1854.
